- TENNIS/PICKLEBALL COURTS CLOSED- The tennis and pickleball courts are closed for about 45 days, starting Tuesday, September 5th. This is to accommodate the extensive resurfacing and remarking project.
- The Social/Children’s Committee is running a food drive to help out the New Kent elementary school's “Otter Pack” program which gives struggling families food for the children over the weekend. This year they have 32 backpacks going home to 32 families and their current pantry is running low. The frequent organizations that help stock the pantry are seeing an increased number of struggling families and also have low pantry stock so they can not help the school's pantry at this time. We know how well Brickshire shows up to help so the Social Committee thought this would be a perfect chance for us to lend a helping hand! Collection boxes will be at the Association office and the Brickshire Golf Club.
- YARD SALE- This year's Fall yard sale will be held on October 14th from 8am - 2pm. This yard sale will take place at your house. This event will be promoted (FB, Nextdoor app, New Kent Paper) by the Social Committee on behalf of the residents who will be participating! Please let us know if you intend to attend by registering through this link https://forms.gle/

- HALLOWEEN AND CANDY DONATIONS- Hard to believe that Halloween is coming, but it is right around the corner! Again this year the Children’s Committee is organizing Brickshire’s annual Halloween in the Sanctuary event. We will again be accepting candy donations in the Association Office to distribute to the residents of the Sanctuary, so there will be plenty of candy for the hundreds of ghouls and goblins who haunt the streets of the Sanctuary on Halloween night! Donations can be dropped off in the office during office hours.
- GOLF CARTS- Recently there have been reports of golf carts and ATVs being driven on the streets in Brickshire. Please note that for safety reasons, only DMV registered vehicles are permitted on VDOT roadways, which include all of the streets within Brickshire.
- LAWN TIPS FROM THE COVENANTS COMMITTEE- The Covenants Committee has worked with True Green to put together the tips below for lawn care in the dog days of summer:
1. Mow when the temperatures are cooler, such as in the early morning or late evening.
2. Raise the height of the blades on your lawn mower to create a better barrier between the sun and the soil.
3. Water your lawn deeply but sparingly two to three times a week to provide it with proper hydration and water in the evening or early morning.
4. Reduce foot traffic to avoid causing further damage to weak and sensitive grass blades during extreme temperatures.
5. Aerate your lawn to help moisture reach the root.
- DRIVER/WALKER SAFETY- Walkers and drivers, please use caution when walking or driving in Brickshire. We all enjoy shared access to the roads but if either party behaves recklessly or without concern for others, you are putting yourself and others at great risk. If you witness unsafe driving, please contact the Sheriff's Office to report the driver. Even if they are unable to apprehend the driver, they can use your report to identify any patterns of unsafe driving and allocate resources to better monitor traffic in these areas. Just a friendly reminder to come to a complete stop at all stop signs. This is for the safety of walkers, joggers, bikers, and other drivers.
