FIRE HYDRANTS- You may have noticed many of the fire hydrants in Brickshire look like they are in need of a glow up. New Kent County has provided the following information:
New Kent County has request for proposals to contract to paint all fire hydrants throughout the county. A scheduled completion date has not been secured for this project but it is in the works. You can also find updates on the county website, https://www.co.new-kent.va.us/. The job includes sanding, wire brushing, ensuring the hydrant is suitable to be painted. The hydrants will be painted the same color they are now. The colors throughout the county are determined by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) guidelines. In New Kent County, the base is "safety" yellow and the caps (aka bonnets) have a certain color. The colors are categorized by the water flow capacity/rate or how the hydrant is designed to provide water based on the supply line.

Brickshire BOD meeting minutes and committee meeting minutes are readily available under the Board & Committees section of the website and are full of the most current updates for the community projects, etc. Stay informed by reviewing minutes and/or attending the meeting(s). You can drop donations off in the Brickshire office during normal office hours (9am-5pm, M-F).

SPRING CLEANING REMINDER- As you start your spring yard clean up, please remove any tape/ribbon on trees around your property. While these are very important during the building process, once a home is occupied, they should be removed.

PICKLEBALL/TENNIS COURT UPDATE- (3.22.24) The work has been very slow going, as you know, but a good bit of progress was made this week. Next week the fencing subcontractor is scheduled to be out and the first layer of coating should be applied shortly thereafter. The target date for completion is now mid-April, but of course the weather will play a part in this timeline. It has been a very long and rough road, but having it done right is more important than having it done quickly. Thanks for bearing with us

NEW RUNNING CLUB- The intent of this group is to meet other runners to run various distances, randomly. Also to hang out for social activities and outdoor exploration to bring more people along for the fun - all levels of runners are welcome. Whether you're training for a race or just running for fitness, we make it happen. And then we take the running shoes off and enjoy festivals, kayaking, biking, hiking, eating out and many other activities. We hope you can come join us!
